A year ago today I was in my hospital bed waiting to meet our little girl. Little did we know that she would come out and be just as spunky on the outside as she was inside. With her beautiful red hair and blue eyes and the sweetest personality ever, we have been so lucky and blessed. Today Penelope’s one and it’s really bittersweet for me because I love seeing her grow and learn every single day. She lights up with excitement when she sees new things and it’s so fun to watch! The other part of me is just really sad because I want to keep her as little and small for as long as possible.
Having Penelope around has brought a lot of changes at home and for Oh So Chic Designs. I’ve put a lot of thought into what I want to offer you guys over the past year and I’m going to shake things up. . .for the better. While I absolutely love creating custom designs and have focused solely on doing this in the past, I’ve decided to limit the number of custom orders I take and focus on selling my pre-designed collection of invitations for weddings, birthdays, showers and birth announcements. I also plan to offer a selection of Christmas cards each year. In addition, I’m currently in the process of setting up my store on the website where you’ll be able to purchase not only your invitations, but also coordinating wrapping paper, paper straws, plates, streamers, balloons and other party essentials to coordinate with your theme! I’m actually really excited to offer these products. The products I’ve chosen to offer are really fun and coordinate nicely. If you’re looking for great gift ideas, I’m also going to be selling my popular customized trays. They make great gifts for graduation, housewarming, weddings or just for you.
So, while there are changes, I hope that by offering ready made items, such as invitations, table numbers, place cards and other items to complete your events, I’ll be able to reach more of you and you’ll think of me when you need these items. I’m also still taking custom orders, but they will be limited.
I hope to have the shop up and running by next week! I’ll post the link as soon as it’s live, so you can check it out! Thank you all for helping me succeed over the years – I’m excited to continue to grow with you in the coming years, as well.
Last January I received a phone call from the sweetest bride who had been referred to me by one of favorite brides from the past – remember Brooke? I won’t lie – I was a bit nervous to take on a wedding at the end of January because I was due in just 2 weeks! She was just so sweet, though and after working with her to create her beautiful custom wedding stationery, I am so glad we worked together.
Sarah and Fritz were getting married in Aspen and for her colors she chose a beautiful color palette for the stationery of gold and chocolate brown. Her invitations just oozed with class, as we went with a double thick, letter pressed invitation with chocolate brown ink and edge painted in the same chocolate brown. For the envelopes we went with an ivory metallic with chocolate brown ink and gorgeous envelope liners made from hand made gold paper. To tie everything together, Sarah chose an ivory silk ribbon and I knotted it over the front of the invitation. Then to seal the deal, we went with an ivory wax seal with a beautiful rose. I warned you they were beautiful.
I have a few photos to share with you that the very talented James Christianson took of their special day. I really don’t think he could have captured the day any better. The essence of the entire day can be seen in each and every photo.
For the ceremony we designed these beautiful programs with letterpress covers. They were just as beautiful and elegant as the invitations with the cotton paper and chocolate brown ink – and of course tied together with the same ivory silk ribbon we used for the invitations.
I chose some of my favorite photos of the couple and their wedding party. I love the ones with the mountains in the background.
and this reception was just breathtaking. Sarah’s taste is so exquisite and it shows in every aspect of her wedding. I really enjoyed designing and creating their table numbers, place cards, notecards for guests to write their memories of the couple, signs and menus. I’m so glad that I was able to be part of their special day. I truly have the best clients – I know I say it all the time, but I do! Thank you so much Sarah and congratulations again to you and Fritz!
Oh my goodness – where to begin. I was so exhausted after Penelope was born and overwhelmed with the idea of having newborn photos done of her. I think I was torn between having posed shots and having more natural photos with natural lighting. I JUST COULDN’T DECIDE! I am so lucky to know and have worked with so many photographers and they are each so very talented – how did I choose?
Well, when Penelope was 1 month old, it was time and I was so lucky to see Theresa from Johnson Photography at one of our monthly wedding group meetings. We met through the Boston Wedding Group, which we both belong to. Her work is absolutely stunning for weddings and families. She also does corporate events – and I’m absolutely positive that she makes those events just as much fun!
One of the greatest things that I will praise her for was making my 16 year old daughter feel completely comfortable. Madeline was so nervous about how to hold Penelope or if her smile was right, or her hair – but no matter what her concern, Theresa was right there to ease them. For me, it was such a relief, as I hadn’t even finished getting myself ready because I hadn’t had any sleep the night before, so I was moving a bit slow.
Overall, she was the perfect photographer and I can’t recommend her enough! Whether you’re getting married, need family photos or have a need for a corporate photographer in the Boston area, you should really check out her website! Did I mention she was amazing and so easy to work with?
Here are a few of the absolutely beautiful photos she took. I love that she thought to use some sentimental props, such as my baby blanket that my grandmother made for me and we also used our bed as a backdrop in quite a few of the photos.
If you want to see more of Theresa’s wonderful work, please check out her website! She is truly amazing and I’m so glad she took Penelope’s first photographs – they were everything we wanted. Thank you so much Theresa, for capturing such a special time for us!
